Insurance before building starts
- Builder's liability insurance with cover of EUR 3 to 5 million.
- Private liability insurance: check whether smaller conversion or modernisation works are included.
- Construction performance insurance for the build period.
- Buildings insurance, so the fire shell insurance can be offered free of charge.
- For own work: register private helpers with BG Bau and take out private accident insurance. As the builder, you and your partner cannot be included in the helper accident insurance.
- Check whether you can protect yourself with residual debt, risk life or disability insurance.
Insurance before moving into your new home
- Is buildings insurance already in place? It protects you if your property is damaged or destroyed.
- Tell your contents insurer about the move. During the move both homes are covered for two months.
- Review your contents insurance after the move, risk conditions often change and the policy may need adjusting.
- If the property is let, take out homeowner and landowner liability insurance.
